Oksana, a 23-year-old nurse from Lysichansk, got married in Lvov, and as a result of the explosion she lost both legs and fingers on her hand.
The wedding took place in a hospital ward, and the first dance of the newlyweds touched those present to tears.

“Fiance Victor circled his beloved Oksana in his arms. She, a 23-year-old nurse from Lisichansk, lost her legs at the end of March. The woman turned around to warn her beloved about the danger, and a second later a mine exploded under her,” the medical facility reports.
The tragic incident happened on March 27. Oksana and Viktor were returning home. She walked ahead, her lover behind her. There was an explosion. Victor miraculously did not suffer, but Oksana’s legs and four fingers of her left hand were torn off.
The girl was taken to a hospital in Lysichansk, where she underwent 4 operations, then she was evacuated to the Dnieper, and then transferred to Lviv. Ahead of the patient – rehabilitation and prosthetics.
Oksana and Viktor decided not to postpone life until later. They have been together for 6 years and have 2 children. Wedding rings and a dress were bought in Lviv, and the wedding cake was baked by volunteers. The ceremony took place at the registry office, and the celebration took place in the ward of the Center for Surgery.
Recall that the nurse Oksana Balandina lived a normal life until February 24, worked as a nurse in the children’s hospital in Lisichansk. In early March, the hospital town was shelled by Russian invaders who invaded Ukraine. Since then, the woman did not go to work and, together with her family, hid from shelling in the basement. This continued until March 27, when Oksana received a mine-explosive injury by stepping on an unknown object.
