British singer Ed Sheeran and the Ukrainian band “Antitelya” released a common track 2Step.
This is a remake of a song from Ed’s latest album, in which Taras Topolya sings in Ukrainian.
The official music video has been released on the band’s YouTube channel. The video embodies stunning wartime footage and a touching personal story of Taras Topoli.
So, the star tells how the war began for his family. And this is not only his personal story, it is the story of millions of Ukrainians whose families were separated by terrible bombings and war.
“Ed’s offer to work together is a manifestation of exactly the genuine support for Ukraine that the people of Great Britain are showing during this war. Millions of people, not only in words, but in concrete actions, show how it is to truly stand up for your principles, democracy and freedom and lend your shoulder to those who really need it. It would seem just a common song, but how symbolic it is, “Topolya shared.
The musician said that it was quite difficult to write and record Ukrainian words in Ed’s song in the circumstances in which the band members were. He said that the recording studio, where the group usually recorded their songs, was under the occupation of Russian soldiers. However, thanks to a friend and co-author, arranger of many songs – Maxim Sivolap – the musicians coped with their part.
The shooting of the video, the idea of which belongs to Taras Topol, took place in Irpen, Kyiv, and also in the Kharkov region. The musicians arrived there as part of the 130th Territorial Defense Battalion, to reinforce the eastern grouping of the ground forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Antibodies” note that they dedicate this video to the memory of Ukrainian director Dmitry Manifest, whose life was cut short too soon.
The video was directed and produced by Dmitry Manifest’s friend Dmitry Shmurak. He and his team implemented everything planned in an incredibly short time, realizing that the Antibody group would not be able to fully join the shooting.
“There are people who are ready to go with you into fire and water. It was thanks to our friendship with Manifesto that it became clear to me that doing something with half strength does not make sense. When Antibodies asked me to support and actually produce and independently to shoot a video clip, I immediately agreed, although I understood that this was a very difficult task. The team and I tried to do everything possible to make the work successful. If Dima were alive, he would definitely be with us on the set. I want to tell the guys only one thing – come back alive!” – shared Dmitry Shmurak.
All proceeds from the monetization of YouTube videos, as well as royalties, will go to the charity of the Music Saves UA project, a project of the All-Ukrainian Association of Musical Events.
The fans were stunned by the duo. They wrote about it in the comments:
- What are you doing – crying almost from the beginning of the song
- Very strong video and excellent track.
- God, tears in my eyes … How good it is! Thanks for this masterpiece! I experienced everything again, as on that day
Recall that the Antibody group joined the ranks of the Territorial Defense on the eve of the war. From the first day of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the band members changed musical instruments for weapons and went to defend the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine. Currently, the musicians, together with the battalion, are in the Kharkov region.
