The State Bureau of Investigation has detained a proxy in the Odesa region, former fugitive Ilya Kiva, who fled to Russia. The detainee could have planned provocations in Odesa and other regions.
According to the agency, this detention was part of a large-scale special operation aimed at preventing Russian provocations on the anniversary of the May 2 Odessa tragedy.
Local authorities said they had detained a total of 12 people with weapons.
In 2014, clashes between Euromaidan supporters and pro-Russian activists and a fire in the House of Trade Unions killed 48 people and injured 250 more.
On May 2, a curfew for the whole day was announced in Odessa. According to local authorities, while the situation in the city is calm.
Russia also fired rockets at the bridge across the Dniester estuary near Odessa for the third time on May 2.
“He (the detainee – Ed .) Was supposed to organize provocative actions in Odesa and other regions of Ukraine at the request of the banned OPZH,” the DBR said about the detainee’s intentions.
Police found that this trustee was responsible for gathering “athletes” in Odessa, ensuring their participation in rallies and rallies in Ukraine “commissioned by Kiwi.”
Kivu himself is now accused of treason. His second “assistant”, the agency added, was hiding from police in Transcarpathia.
“He was responsible for the selection of” aunts “who guarded the representatives of the political party OPZZH during mass events in Odessa and Kyiv regions,” the DBR said.
Mass actions, according to militiamen, were financed by representatives of OPZZh. The “trustee” of Kiwi gave the participants instructions on how to behave, including the use of physical force.
So far, the DBR has identified 30 “aunts” used by the OPZZH party.
“The involvement of all detainees in the organization of provocations in Odessa on May 2, 2022 is being checked,” the agency informs.
The region is afraid of provocations from Russia on the anniversary of the Odessa tragedy.
From 10 pm on May 1 to 5 am on May 3, a long curfew was announced in Odesa to prevent such incidents.
“Indeed, there is serious information that there may be actions by saboteurs or DRG… and we do not rule out that there may be some missiles,” said Victor Andrusiv, adviser to the Interior Minister on the news telethon.
“The key is that people do not gather together, do not try to hold marches, rallies,” he added.
Earlier, Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova reported on the suspicion of former MP OPIA MP Ilya Kiwi in treason and public calls to change the borders of Ukraine.
Kiva, who left for Spain before the war, is in Russia, where he appears on television.
During the martial law in Ukraine, 11 parties were suspended, including the OPZZh.
