The commander of the Russian army unit, which tortured and killed people in Bucha, was able to identify when he sent the looted property by mail.
The first suspicion in the murder of the civilian population in Bucha by the Russian military has been put forward.
This was stated by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova on the air of the all-Ukrainian information telethon.
“On March 18, four people were killed (peaceful Ukrainians in the city of Bucha – ed.) … The person who killed these people has been identified by us. I am very grateful to the prosecutors of the Bucha prosecutor’s office, they raised suspicion to the commander of this unit. In addition to the fact that he killed these people, he still tortured other people,” Venediktova said.
She clarified that he was able to be identified when he sent the looted property by mail.
“We have a fairly powerful evidence base for murder and torture … Everything is powerfully collected for the case,” Venediktova said.
She stressed that this is the first suspicion of the murder of the civilian population of Ukraine by the Russian military.
“We are moving to bring him to justice in absentia… Today we are bringing suspicion to him. This is the first suspicion of the murder of the civilian population by the Russian military,” Venediktova said.

The Prosecutor General emphasized that he would be wanted and, in addition, the evidence base was transferred to international courts, which would then be able to move forward in their investigation, if necessary, so that all those responsible for the terrible atrocities in Ukraine would be punished.
“Even if they never leave the Russian Federation, their country will be their prison. And if they leave, they will be arrested at the borders and, of course, extradited to the Ukrainian side,” Venediktova emphasized.
Recall that the SBU identified almost 900 Russian invaders who killed and tortured people in the Kiev region.
