Incidents involving the wounded and dead have occurred in Belgorod, Kursk Oblast and the Perm Powder Mill in Russia. Fires and explosions have occurred frequently in the Russian regions bordering Ukraine and in some others over the past two weeks. Ukraine claims that it does not organize military operations in Russia.

Since April 11, there has been a high level of terrorist threat in Russia’s border regions. The Ukrainian authorities state that they do not conduct military operations on the territory of Russia.

“Military action is currently underway only within Ukraine and has not spread to Russia, the Ukrainian army is not organizing military operations on Russian territory,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Arab TV channels Al-Arabiya and Hadas.

At the same time, Russia blames Ukraine for many of these attacks.

Belgorod

Explosions were heard in Belgorod on the night of May 2-3, local telegram channels reported. A RIA Novosti correspondent reported a “loud sound like an explosion of medium power” in the city center.

A video has been spread on social networks, in which an explosion is heard first, and then car alarms are triggered en masse.

According to RIA Novosti, no traces of air defense systems were visible in the sky.

And on Monday, May 2, the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote that he “woke up from two powerful explosions.”

“According to the operational headquarters, there is no damage or destruction. No one was injured,” he wrote. He later said that “the combat missions of our military aircraft were being carried out as part of a special military operation.”

The day before, Gladkov said that on the border of three municipalities – Borisov, Belgorod districts and Yakovlev city district – there was a fire on the territory of one of the objects of the Ministry of Defense. Five houses of the villagers were damaged, two burned down completely. One of the residents was injured.

This is not the first incident in Belgorod. On April 1, an explosion and fire occurred at the Rosneft oil depot. The Russian Defense Ministry said that Ukrainian helicopters fired a missile at it. The Ukrainian authorities did not confirm or deny the fact of the air strike on the oil depot.

In mid-April, a railway track was damaged on a bridge in the Shebekinsky district of the Belgorod region.

On April 27, the FSB announced the detention of two Russians who were allegedly preparing a sabotage in the Belgorod region “at one of the transport infrastructure facilities.” The special services called them “supporters of Ukrainian Nazism.” The detainees allegedly admitted that they wanted to disable the railway tracks used by Russian military echelons.

On the same day, the governor of Belgorod reported explosions at an army ammunition depot near the village of Stara Nelydivka. Shells from the territory of Ukraine hit the village of Zhuravlivka several times, the regional authorities said.

Kursk region

The bridge on the Suja-Sosnovy Bir race, which was used for cargo transportation, partially collapsed, the governor of the region Roman Starovoit said in his telegram channel on May 1.

“The railway branch was used to move warehouses. There are no casualties. Nothing threatens the lives and health of citizens,” he wrote .

The official later said that blowing up the bridge was a sabotage, and investigators opened a criminal case. The detainees were not reported.

On April 30, Starovoit reported a mortar attack on a checkpoint in the village of Krupets by Ukraine. According to him, there were no casualties or damage, the firing point “was quickly suppressed by fire in response to the military and border guards.” The same checkpoint was shelled on April 29.

On April 27, Starovoit wrote that a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle had been intercepted in the skies over the Kursk region. Earlier, he reported that Russian air defenses shot down two Ukrainian drones in the village of Borivske.

In early March, the governor of Kursk told how a military vehicle, which was being repaired on the territory of the sugar factory, exploded in the village of Tiotkine due to a short circuit.

“Natural process”

Various incidents at strategic sites – explosions, fires and collapses of bridges – are regularly reported by leaders of other Russian regions bordering Ukraine.

The Ukrainian authorities usually do not confirm their involvement in the incidents on Russian territory, but neither do they deny it.

Mykhailo Podoliak, an adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, calls what is happening “a completely natural process.”

“The reasons for the destruction of the military infrastructure of the border areas can be completely different. Up to… divine intervention in the affairs of sinners who massacred people in Ukrainian Mariupol during Holy Week,” he wrote in his telegram channel.

Against the background of the war with Ukraine, any serious incidents on Russian territory attract special attention of the media and the audience – even in the absence of a visible connection with what is happening in the neighboring country.

Perm

A fire broke out at the Perm Powder Mill on the evening of May 1, killing three employees. Two victims died at the hospital, and one – on the spot, according to Russian news agencies.

The State Labor Inspectorate in the Perm region reported that “on May 1, at about 8 pm, products caught fire at the production site № 12 of Plastmas production.” Local authorities did not comment on the incident.

The State Unitary Enterprise of the Ministry for Emergencies in Perm Krai explained that the enterprise is closed and is serviced by specialized fire departments that are not part of the regional State Unitary Enterprise of the Ministry for Emergencies. A year ago, this powder factory also exploded – after a warehouse with “special products” caught fire; three people were injured.

The plant’s website states that they produce charges for the “Hail” and “Tornado” multiple rocket launchers, air defense systems, as well as gunpowder for small arms.

Tver

Early in the morning of May 3, a truck parking lot caught fire in the village of Stara Kostiantynivka near Tver. According to the Tver Regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 38 vehicles were completely burned or partially damaged as a result of the fire. The causes of the fire are unknown.

On April 21, a large fire broke out in Tver at the Central Research Institute of the Russian Air Defense Forces. The fire was completely extinguished only the next day. 22 people were found dead under the rubble. The cause of the fire, according to a TASS source, was a short circuit. According to Kommersant, the research institute took part in the development of the Iskander missile system.

Moscow region

On Tuesday night, a strong fire broke out at a printing house near Moscow in the Bogorodsky district. The area of the outbreak is almost 34 thousand square meters. meters, there was a partial collapse. According to the telegram channel “112”, the premises that broke out were rented by the publishing house “Osvita” and the company “Stock Trading”.

109 people and 37 special vehicles took part in the extinguishing. A TASS source said that the fire started in the room with electronics. Among the reasons are considered emergency operation of the power grid and careless handling of fire.
