On Tuesday, May 3, in Kyiv they said goodbye to the journalist and producer of Radio Liberty Vera Girich.
The funeral service and farewell ceremony took place in St. Michael’s Golden-domed Cathedral of the capital.
It is reported by Radio Liberty.

“Vera was indeed the heart of the Ukrainian editorial office… Our coverage of this senseless, unjust war that claimed Vera’s life would not have been possible without her. Vera coordinated editorial tasks and business trips for our correspondents, worked amazingly with war correspondents working at the fronts was very important to our audience in Ukraine. This coverage of the war reached both Russians and other countries on a daily basis,” said Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty President Jamie Fly.
The latest video, produced by Vera, featured an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor and her 94-year-old husband, a naval reserve officer, who were evacuated from Mariupol to Kyiv. This item has already aired.
With “1 + 1” Vera Girich combines a lot. In 2006-2007 she worked as a guest editor, and from 2007 to 2016 as an information producer for TSN. Colleagues remember Vera as an extremely kind, sensitive and tactful person who always came to the rescue and radiated kindness. This is an indescribable loss for the entire TSN team.
Recall that journalist Vera Girich died on April 28 in Kiev as a result of a Russian airstrike . An enemy missile hit the journalist’s apartment building. The woman lay under the rubble of the house all night, and her body was not found until the next morning.
On April 28, the Russian invaders fired two rockets at Kiev : the hits were in the Shevchenko region. One of the missiles hit the lower floors of a 25-story residential building.
