The Pope wants to travel to Moscow to meet with Putin and discuss the war started by Russia.
Pope Francis said that back in March he sent a proposal to the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin about a meeting in Moscow to discuss the war in Ukraine, which was unleashed by the Russian Federation, cynically killing civilians.
He said this in an interview with the Corriere Della Sera newspaper.
Francis said that after twenty days of war, he asked one of the cardinals to convey a message to Putin about his readiness to come to Moscow to try to stop the war. However, no response was received.
“We have not yet received an answer and we are still insisting, although I am afraid that Putin cannot and does not want to hold this meeting right now. But how much cruelty can not be stopped?” he said.
The Pope added that he would not go to Ukraine now, as he believes that first there should be a visit to the Russian Federation.
“First I have to go to Moscow, first I have to meet with Putin, ” he added .
As noted, Pope Francis is worried that “ Putin will not stop yet . ” The pontiff is also trying to understand the reasons that push Putin to such a brutal war.
As reported, the Pope three times asked Putin for a gum corridor from Mariupol, he refused .
