Rada raises fines for foul language in public places.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the first reading a bill on amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses for the Protection of the Honor and Dignity of Citizens and Law Enforcement Officials (No. 5050-1).
The bill establishes that petty hooliganism, i.e. public foul language in public places, insulting harassment of citizens and other similar actions that violate public order or the peace of citizens – entails a fine of 10 to 30 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens. UAH 510) or public works for a period of 20 to 40 hours, or corrective labor for a period of one to two months minus 20% of earnings, or administrative arrest for up to 10 days.
The current legislation refers to a fine from 51 to 119 UAH. At the same time, we are talking about public works for a period of 40 to 60 hours and administrative arrest for a period of up to 15 days.
Among other things, it is proposed to establish responsibility for insulting a policeman, a member of a public formation for the protection of public order and the state border, a military man.
Thus, public insult of a police officer in the performance of his official duties or a member of a public formation for the protection of public order and the state border, a soldier in connection with their participation in the protection of public order – entails a fine of 20 to 40 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens (from 340 to 680 UAH) or community service for a period of 20 to 30 hours.
