People’s deputy from the Servant of the People Aleksey Kovalyov has been expelled from the pro-government faction in the Verkhovna Rada.
He is suspected of collaborating with Russian invaders in the Kherson region.
This was announced by the speaker of the “Servant of the People” Yulia Paliychuk.
As stated in the statement of the pro-government faction, Kovalev did not leave the occupied territories and communicates with the occupying authorities. Also, he does not participate in the national resistance, does not attend a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada. Kovalev did not explain his behavior to the leadership of the faction. The statement says that the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada is probably a state traitor.
“Against this background, Kovalev’s behavior is incompatible neither with the title of people’s deputy of Ukraine, nor even more so with membership in the Servant of the People faction. His behavior not only casts a shadow on the image of the party that nominated him as a candidate for people’s deputies, he is essentially a traitor those party members and deputies of all levels who today participate in the national resistance, being in the temporarily occupied territories, serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and, in particular, territorial defense units, help the army and migrants, and negotiate with colleagues from allied countries to expand assistance to Ukraine,” – the message says.
“Servant of the People” appealed to the Office of the Prosecutor General and the SBU with a call to initiate a criminal case against his former ally.
