Zelensky said that everything will continue to be done “to get all our people out of Mariupol and Azovstal.”

The head of state said this in a video message on May 3.

“We finally have the first result of our evacuation operation from Azovstal in Mariupol, which we organized for a very long time. It required many efforts, long negotiations and various mediations. Today 156 people arrived in Zaporozhye – women, children. They were there for more than two months in shelters. Just imagine, for example, a child is six months old, two of which are underground, fleeing bombs and shelling,” Zelensky said.

“Finally, these people are completely safe, they receive help . And I am grateful to everyone on whom the salvation of these people depended, who agreed and helped. I am grateful to each and everyone who ensured the physical movement of people through a humanitarian corridor,” the president said.

“Of course, we will continue to do everything to get all our people from Mariupol and Azovstal. It is difficult, but we need everyone who remains there – both civilians and the military. There has not been a day when we did not deal with this issue” , the head of state stressed.

He added that it was possible to achieve a ceasefire for almost three days for the sake of a humanitarian corridor, but now the Russian troops are not complying with the agreement.

“They continue massive strikes against Azovstal. They are trying to storm the complex. But I have been told many times that it will not be possible to save a single person, it is impossible. Today, 156 people are in Zaporozhye. This is not yet a victory, but already a result. I believe that there is a chance to save our other people,” Zelensky stressed.

Recall, on May 3, buses with people arrived in Zaporozhye, who were evacuated from Azovstal in Mariupol.
