In the Rivne region there was a big accident involving a fuel truck, bus and car. According to updated data from the National Police, 26 people died. Another 12 people were injured
The accident happened on May 3 at about 7:20 pm on the Kyiv-Chop highway near the village of Sitne, Dubna district.
Due to the collision, the cars caught fire.
“Police, rescuers, forensic experts from the SME and NDEKT are completing an inspection of the scene, identifying the dead, but the personal data of three people have not yet been established,” the National Police said on the morning of May 4.
According to police, the driver of the car “Mercedes-Benz Vito”, which caused the accident, tried to overtake another car and drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a fuel truck;
The bus bound for Poland was carrying 24 passengers.
Seven ambulance crews, seven patrol crews, seven units of equipment and 44 SES officers worked at the scene.
Among the dead were two drivers – a bus and a car.
Police also said the passengers were between the ages of 17 and 69. The youngest was to turn 18 on May 12.
All participants of the accident from Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Khmelnytsky regions.
