Senators of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus have adopted a bill to amend the criminal code.

Thus, capital punishment is provided for:
- attempted murder of a representative of a foreign state or an international organization with the aim of provoking international complications;
- an attempt to commit an act of terrorism with the use of atomic energy facilities, with the use of radioactive substances or nuclear materials, chemical or biological substances;
- attempted murder of a statesman or public figure.
Earlier it was reported that the draft law was prepared “with the aim of deterring destructive elements, as well as demonstrating the state’s resolute struggle against terrorist activities.”
