The victims of taxi drivers were Poles and several foreign women, the youngest of them was only 16 years old. According to official figures, 11 crimes were committed in Warsaw last year, nine – this year.

The last such incident occurred at the end of April. A young foreign woman came out at dawn from her friend and called one of the most popular taxi services. Previously, the driver was a 24-year-old citizen of Georgia.

When the girl was driving in a car, suddenly the taxi driver stopped on the side of the road, began to molest the client and raped her. She tried to defend herself, but the man used force.

As it turned out later, the rapist went for someone else’s card. He was detained the next day after the police received a report about the incident.

The criminals’ handwriting is similar. As a rule, they attack their victims either at dawn or at night. They stop the car on a deserted street, change to the back seat. Some women are pursued, others are raped.

Suspects in 20 cases named 12 identified foreigners of different nationalities. The nationality of eight more suspects has not been established. The suspects, who were identified, were temporarily arrested.

In 13 cases, it was rape that occurred, in the rest, “other acts of a sexual nature” were committed.

The Polish prosecutor’s office is pushing for changes to the law on the provision of taxi licenses and driver IDs. This includes an exam in Polish, large psychological tests, increased control to prevent multiple people from using one account in the application and the introduction of liability for taxi operators for damage caused by a driver to a client.
