Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that $6.5 billion had been raised at the International Donor Conference dedicated to raising funds for war-affected Ukraine.
Ukraine plans not just to restore what was destroyed by the aggressor, but seeks to build a new European country, the head of government stressed.
Shmygal announced this at the end of the conference on May 5.
“Today, true friends of Ukraine have gathered in Warsaw! Thanks to the organizers of the International Donor Conference: Prime Ministers of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki and Sweden Magdalena Andersson. We have mobilized $6.5 billion! We appreciate the help of the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Parliament Charles Michel and all our partners,” the premier said in a statement.
“Ukraine plans not only to restore what was destroyed by the aggressor, but seeks to build a new European country. Everyone can help build their own part of the Dream Country – the future Ukraine. For this, we created the Foundation for the Restoration of Ukraine,” Shmihal recalled.
He added that, together with President Volodymyr Zelensky, a month ago they called on European cities to help Ukrainian brethren. Great Britain volunteered to take care of the restoration of the Kyiv region. Denmark took Nikolaev under patronage. Greece is ready to help Odessa.
“This is a good start. Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, hundreds of towns and villages in Ukraine are also waiting for help . And I know for sure that they will receive it. Together we will defeat the enemy, protect peace and restore Ukraine!” the prime minister stressed.
Recall that Zelensky initiated the creation of the United24 global project , thanks to which any country in any country will be able to transfer funds in support of Ukraine.
