The Ukrainian prime minister did not divulge the content of the agreements with the Polish side, but emphasized their importance for the country’s defense capability.
On Thursday, May 5, during a visit to Warsaw for the “Donors for Ukraine” conference, the head of the Ukrainian government, Denys Szmihal, signed an important document in the field of security and defense with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
He announced this at a press conference at the Ukrainian Embassy, tvn24 reports .
“Today we signed a document on support in the field of security and defense. An extremely important document. I cannot disclose its content, but this is an important step to provide Ukraine with special technology and special support in the field of security and defense,” Shmyhal said.
The Ukrainian prime minister also noted that “the war has shown who is a friend and brother for Ukraine, and who is the other way around.”
“I express my gratitude to the Polish President and Prime Minister, we sometimes contact by phone several times a day. I want to emphasize that Poland is providing unprecedented assistance to Ukraine in all possible areas. I cannot go into details, but in terms of military support, Poland is our the second most important partner right after the United States,” he said.
Denis Shmihal stressed that relations between Ukraine and Poland have entered a completely new stage. In his opinion, “the Polish-Ukrainian brotherhood will last for the next decades.”
Recall that Poland plans to be the guarantor of Ukraine’s security at the request of Kiev , next to other countries. At the same time, Warsaw will not support any peace agreement that would mean the loss of Ukraine’s territory.
