President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine needs a modern version of the “Marshall Plan” – the money, technology, skills and growth opportunities needed to return to civilian life, modernize and social development.
How this brutal war will end will be decided not only on the battlefield, the head of state stressed.
Zelensky stated this at the international donor conference for Ukraine in Warsaw on May 5.
He continued that how the war will end also depends on economic, financial, humanitarian support and the ability to ensure a normal life in the liberated territories, to rebuild what was destroyed by the Russian army.
” Freedom must demonstrate that it protects and gives more than tyranny , which for decades received money for the sale of oil, gas and other resources,” the president stressed.
He said that today, during the war, Ukraine needs financial assistance to cover all social, humanitarian and military needs. In addition, Ukraine needs a strategic plan for international support – a modern analogue of the “Marshall Plan”.
“This is the money, technology, specialists and growth opportunities needed to return to peaceful life, modernization and social development. This will be an investment in the stability of all of Central and Eastern Europe … The restoration of Ukraine should become the same historical example from our time as the restoration of European countries after World War II,” Zelensky said.
He added that if the assistance is sufficient and timely, it will additionally help Ukrainians who have gone abroad because of the war to return to their homeland.
Recall that Zelensky initiated the creation of the United24 global project , thanks to which any country in any country will be able to transfer funds in support of Ukraine.
