Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak confirmed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The head of the Presidential Office, commenting on these negotiations, noted that Russia failed to split Europe in support of Ukraine, which the Kremlin so hoped for.
Yermak wrote about this on his Telegram page.
“The conversation between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier really took place today. Germany remains a powerful ally of Ukraine . There will be an official announcement about the details, I can only say that the hope of Russians for a split in the unity of Europe in support of Ukraine is useless,” Yermak said .
So far, there has been no official statement from Germany regarding the conversation with the Ukrainian president.
Paul Ronzheimer, deputy editor of the German edition of Bild, said on his Twitter page that “the parties have agreed to put the past behind them in order to focus on future cooperation.”

It is worth noting that earlier Zelensky refused to receive German President Steinmeier in Kyiv. He explained this decision that Steinmeier has “close ties with Russia.”
