The US Department of Defense cannot yet confirm the shooting down of the Russian frigate Admiral Makarov by Ukrainian troops in the Black Sea. Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, cannot confirm such information either.
So, the journalists asked the Pentagon to confirm or deny the probable hit of the APU by Neptune missiles on the Admiral Makarov frigate. Department spokesman John Kirby commented on the situation.
CNN writes about it.
“We have been monitoring the data for a whole day, and we have no information to confirm these reports. If this is true, then the attack on the Admiral Makarov would be another big loss for Russia in the war against Ukraine at sea after the sinking of the cruiser Moskva in the past month,” a Pentagon spokesman said.
We add that Arestovich also did not confirm the information about the hitting of the vessel “Akademik Makarov”.
“At the moment, there is no reliable information that someone was beaten or not knocked out by the Ukrainian official authorities. It continues to be specified,” he said .
Arestovich noted that he is not yet ready to say yes or no.
Also, the speaker of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov could not confirm or deny the information about the shooting down of the frigate “Admiral Makarov”, Russian media write.
At the same time, Turkish media published footage of a fire on what was likely a Russian vessel.
