“It’s scary, very scary. I didn’t feel like that at the front, that it’s possible,” says the 97-year-old veteran. Grandfather says that this house was built by his father, and he, being a seven-year-old boy, helped.
“You know, it hurts a lot. What did we fight for? What did we liberate? We made such an old age for ourselves? We fought for the liberation of Ukraine,” the veteran notes.
His relatives wanted to take him to a safe place, but his grandfather refused.
“If I had the strength, I would go first on the defensive. I would stand, help our troops. I have relatives there (in Russia), they say:“ We don’t know anything. ”How do you know nothing? And we suffer so much now. So now I don’t have an ounce of pity,” says Ivan Lysun.
