How can the economic life of the Russians be worsened if their military mercenaries were hit by paved roads in the villages of the Chernihiv region? This was discussed in the program “Nichna Varta” on 1 + 1.
10,128 financial restrictions were imposed against Russia. This is more than the sanctions against Iran, Syria and North Korea. However, the world practice of economic restrictions does not affect the change in the course of dictatorial regimes.
Journalist Yevgeny Kuksin announced the results of a study by University of Chicago professor Robert Pape, who studied 115 cases of sanctions in the world.
“And only five (cases of imposition of sanctions – ed.) Pape calls successful,” Kuksin added.
- 1. In 1933, under pressure from the United Kingdom, the USSR released six prisoners suspected of espionage.
- 2. Under pressure from the Arab League, Canada agreed not to move the embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem
- 3. El Salvador, under pressure from the United States, did not release prisoners accused of murder
- 4. South Korea refused to buy a nuclear waste processing plant
- 5. Nepal refused to buy weapons from China
Kyiv School of Economics President Timofey Mylovanov agrees that today’s sanctions pressure against Russia has not affected the Kremlin’s expansion plans.
“Their economy is subject to sanctions, but people continue to get into tanks and go to die,” he said.
“Russia’s problem is not about money, but that they are ready to kill other people,” Milovanov stressed.
He adds that sanctions do not stop Putin, but they will stop Russia.
“They will affect the ability to repair their tanks, launch missiles and finance the development of weapons,” Milovanov said.
