President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that now it is impossible to unblock Mariupol by military means.
The head of state explained that Ukraine does not yet have such heavy weapons that would allow the release of Mariupol.
The Ukrainian president spoke about this during a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Kyiv on Sunday, May 8.
“It is impossible to unblock the city of Mariupol by military means. It is impossible today. These are not opinions, these are the conclusions of the leadership of our army,” he stressed.
At the same time, Zelensky recalled that all civilians had been evacuated from the Mariupol Azovstal plant. He added that the top political leadership of the Russian Federation consciously “does not want to let our military out” from the factory.
At the same time, the head of state stressed that Ukraine would return all its territories “when there is such an opportunity.”
