The Prime Minister spoke about the state of the country’s economy in the third month of the war, about paying taxes and forecasts.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal spoke about the positive signals in the Ukrainian economy, despite the war. According to him, the work of enterprises is gradually resuming in Ukraine, which means that revenues to the budget are growing.
The prime minister announced this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
“April was really difficult, because the economy adapted to the war. More than 32% of enterprises completely ceased their activities. Today, this figure is less – already 17%. In the first quarter, we fulfilled the budget by 110%. In March, there was a slight subsidence, but in general, due to overfulfillment in January-February, it turned out not bad on the whole,” he said.
According to the prime minister, now tax collections exceed the plan. In practice, companies are fulfilling the tax plan that was expected even before the war. However, customs taxes have been reduced.
“And this is a positive moment in how we went through April, and how we are now entering May. We are not yet fulfilling pre-war customs receipts, because we deliberately refused to collect customs payments, from VAT. We opened the customs completely in order to humanitarian aid, weapons, food – everything entered Ukraine without hindrance,” he said.
Recall that the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danilo Getmantsev named the largest companies and brands that, despite the war, continue to pay taxes in advance to the Ukrainian state budget.
