Rescued from "Azovstal" tell how they survived in the dungeon and how "Aunt Sup" saved them from starvation

The night before, 10 buses arrived from the occupied territories near Mariupol to Zaporozhye.

Among the rescued is the girl Alice, whose mother was taken hostage in the so-called filtration camp. They also managed to take out a large family with 8 children – they were evacuated under fire in two tanks, according to TSN .

At the last possible checkpoint with the Ukrainian military, ambulance doctors were waiting for the buses along with others, because one of the passengers became ill. There are six children in the first bus, they were evacuated from Azovstal.

Svetlana, Dmitry and their daughter Sonya rejoice – their family survived. “The bunker staggered, it was scary. I had a real fear of death in recent days, because all the time shelling was going on and we couldn’t even look out,” people say.

They immediately start talking about those who are still at Azovstal – they remind you that you need to save the defenders.

Among the passengers is 4-year-old Alice, she left Azovstal with her mother, now she is a girl herself. The baby first became known when his mother took it off so that people could see that the baby needed help. Then the freeze frame from this video saw the light, Shakhtar players took to the field with a photo of the little prisoner.

The tired girl sleeps sweetly at first, but wakes up from the heat – she still has winter things. They do not dare to talk about their mother and the war, but the little girl tells how she wants to become a doctor.

She is accompanied by an outsider – the mother was captured in the so-called filtration camp with another girl, but she wanted the child to be safe.

Four-year-old Ivan was lucky – almost all of his large family is with him, right up to his great-grandmother. The boy most of all missed his friends in the kindergarten. “He is no longer there, he was bombed,” says the boy.

In the bus and men, it was even more difficult for them to break through because of the check in the camp. “Checked, undressed, watched. I am a worker, I am not a military man,” the man says.

His son Dmitriy is 17 and is also in work uniform – clothes that were found at Azovstal. It was so amazing for an 11th grader to live without the Internet. “I was surprised that only we were bombed, I thought it was like that all over Mariupol and thought that we are still doing well,” the young man says.

He wanted to become a programmer, but now his dreams are simpler. “Just take a walk, get out free,” he adds.

The dog Spike also wants to go for a walk all the time – he was also taken from the bunker. “He is a brave, fighting dog, we had several dogs, but they were very worried, and this dog is a fighting dog,” the owners say.

Buses with people drove to their destination for 15 hours, there was constant talk about the missing food. But people remember how they once found a cake. “March 8 was celebrated with a cake, they found it in refrigerators in a bombed-out factory,” the rescued say.

Then there was another second – almost a “cake”. “It’s a holiday, I wanted a cake, candles, and we made some kind of cream with sugar from what was made in the pan and made some kind of cream with sugar from custard flour, made it look like Napoleon and we found a thick, standard, ordinary candle, plucked it and such a cake turned out,” say Mariupol residents.

But most often they ate soup with pancakes from Natalka, she was even nicknamed “Aunt Soup.” “I am “Aunt Soup”, because the children did not remember my name, and I said, let me be Aunt Soup for you,” says Natalya.

Now she can make pancakes out of everything, it seems. “Everything that was diluted with porridge and such was breakfast for children and it was a cool incentive not to give up,” the woman says.

In buses, people are upset – on the highway, hundreds of people were waiting to get into this column, but it was impossible to sit down. Driver Igor explains that they wanted to take people away, but they were simply not allowed to stop and pick them up. “Catastrophically, people are waving their hands, shouting, because the convoy of Russian soldiers does not give the go-ahead and the empty buses were walking behind,” the drivers say.

Those who managed to escape hug and thank the representatives of the Red Cross for the rescue.

Around Yulia, her eight kids – they are not from Azovstal – were hiding in the basement of Mariupol. The eldest 14-year-old Diana misses the burnt-out school the most.

The family says that they were taken out on shells. “They were taken out on one tank, and us on another. At first they put us behind a hillock, and then the shells began to fall and they ordered us – they put all the children and adults in jail, they put us in different cars. When I saw my daughter about three hours later, she said that they were under fire, a drone was flying there and aiming at us from a laser,” the rescued say.

Children are taken away so that they can rest and wash after the hell they have returned from.
