"Russia brought the evil of total war to Europe": Zelensky spoke about a meeting in Kyiv with an EU official

The Ukrainian president expressed gratitude to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe for her visit, by which she expressed her support for Ukraine, which is suffering from Russian aggression.

On Monday, May 9, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky received the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Ms Maria Peychynovych-Burich, in Kyiv. During the meeting, they discussed the price that Russia must pay for the war unleashed on the European continent.

He announced this during his traditional address.

“We discussed what can be done for peace in Ukraine and Europe with the help of the tools of this respected institution. I am grateful for the support of our state by visiting our capital on this day. Europe Day. And the Day of Victory over Nazism,” the Ukrainian leader stressed.

Zelensky noted that earlier on May 9, Europeans usually mentioned the price of peace, which was paid by all the peoples of the European continent, and talked about how to prevent such a terrible war from happening again.

“It is clear that everything is different now. In European capitals, the main theme is the price of peace, which will still have to be paid by stopping the war unleashed by Russia. And also the price for Russia for bringing back to Europe the evil of a total war to destroy our people,” the president said.

Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that, despite all the propaganda political statements of the Russian Federation, the Russian state will remain the only culprit for the fact that the world was destroyed. “This is a historical responsibility for Russia,” he said.

The Ukrainian leader assured that the Ukrainians would work “for defense, for victory and for the restoration of justice” in order to liberate Ukraine from the invaders, and expressed gratitude to all the defenders of our state.

“I thank everyone who defends the Kharkiv region, defends the Donbass, defends the south of Ukraine. Who does not give up and waits for the Ukrainian flag in all cities that are temporarily – I emphasize this: temporarily – captured by the occupiers. Kherson, Melitopol, Berdyansk, Energodar, Mariupol, all other cities, all our other communities. The Ukrainian banner will return. Because this is our country. Free European country. Our state,” the President stressed.

On May 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin did not declare war on Ukraine. As a result, there will be no general mobilization in Russia either.
