Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian propagandists have been coming up with new fakes every day to demoralize Ukrainians and discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Experts from the Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine have collected a selection of fakes, manipulations and disinformation stuffing that the enemy produced during May 9.
This is stated in the message of the Center for Combating Disinformation in the Telegram channel.
List of fakes, misinformation and manipulations:
- The Armed Forces of Ukraine “failed to destroy the Russian Raptor boats near Zmeiny Island.” Such a message was circulated on several Russian Telegram channels, citing unidentified “sources close to the military operation.” The statement also said that “the crews of the vessels were not injured.” Be warned, this is misinformation.
- The media of the Russian Federation spread the thesis that “despite the unsuccessful sowing campaign, grain is massively exported from the Odessa and Nikolaev regions in order to pay for the lend-lease, and also to accuse the Russian Federation of a new Holodomor.” Such a thesis is “thrown” into the information space, despite Ukraine’s plans for grain exports. Be warned, this is manipulation.
- The Russian media reported that “the residents of Mariupol are celebrating the long-awaited holiday with tears of joy. They can put on St. George’s ribbons, which Ukraine has banned for years.” Such a propaganda thesis is intended to illustrate that “Mariupol is returning to peaceful life.” Be warned – this is fake.
Recall that pro-Russian Telegram channels also replicate a fake about a sharp deterioration in the epidemiological situation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Russia seeks to sow panic among the Ukrainian defenders, not disdaining to “disperse” the fake that “an epidemic of tuberculosis has begun in the Ukrainian army.”
