Today, May 9, Ukraine celebrates Victory Day over Nazism.
Also today there is a war between Ukraine and Russia and this is not a war of two armies, it is a war of two worldviews.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said this in his video message.
“There is nothing more poisonous than a pretend friend. These are the words of the great Ukrainian philosopher Hryhoriy Skovoroda. On February 24, we understood this truth when a pretend friend started a war against Ukraine. This is not a war of two armies. This is a war of two worldviews. Barbarians shelling the Skovoroda museum and believing, that their missiles can destroy our philosophy. It irritates them, it is alien to them, it frightens them. It lies in the fact that we are free people who go our own way. And on this path today we are waging war and will not give anyone a shred of our Earth. Today we celebrate the Day of Victory over Nazism and we will not give anyone a shred of our history,” the President said.
He noted that Ukraine is proud of its ancestors, who, together with other peoples, as part of the anti-Hiller coalition, defeated Nazism.
“And we will not let anyone annex this victory, we will not let it be appropriated. Our enemy dreamed that we would refuse to celebrate May 9 and the victory over Nazism so that the word “denazification” would have a chance. Millions of Ukrainians fought against Nazism and went a difficult and long way. They expelled the Nazis from Luhansk, expelled the Nazis from Donetsk, liberated Kherson, Melitopol, Berdyansk from the occupiers, expelled the Nazis from Yalta, Simferopol, Kerch and the entire Crimea, liberated Mariupol from the Nazis, they expelled the Nazis from all over Ukraine, but the cities I named today are especially inspiring give us faith that we will definitely drive the occupiers out of our own land,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
Recall that on May 6 at 11 p.m., Russian invaders fired on the museum of Grigory Skovoroda. The shell hit the roof of the building. On the territory there was a 35-year-old man who looked after the museum, unfortunately, he was injured. The place is practically destroyed. The most valuable exhibits were saved, they were moved to a safe place in advance.
President Volodymyr Zelensky, commenting on the shelling of the Skovoroda estate, noted that an army is fighting against Ukraine, which launches rocket attacks on museums . The Russians want to bring this to other European countries as well.
