Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba commented on whether Ukraine will become a candidate for joining the European Union.
He stressed that if this does not happen, then this will mean deception on the part of Europe and Ukraine will not swallow it.
The Foreign Minister said this in an interview with the Financial Times .
Kuleba noted that three months ago there was no prospect of joining the European Union in Ukraine, but now everything has changed. The Ukrainian diplomat said that Ukraine hopes to receive the status of a candidate for EU membership in June.
“If we don’t get candidate status, it means only one thing: that Europe is trying to deceive us . And we are not going to swallow it. Ukraine is the only place in Europe where people are dying because of the values that the EU is based on. And I think that this should be respected,” the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
Recall that earlier French President Macron said that Ukraine’s accession to the European Union , according to the current rules, can last for years and even decades.
