Delay in the adoption of the sixth sanctions package is absolutely unacceptable, and all arguments against the introduction of the mechanism of the oil embargo proposed in it are far-fetched. Ukraine really hopes that a solution will be found in the coming days.
This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba at a joint press conference with his Dutch counterpart Vopke Gukstroy in Kiev.
“Delay in the adoption of the sixth sanctions package is absolutely unacceptable. All arguments that the oil embargo in the form in which it was proposed to be adopted will destroy the economy of Hungary or any other country are far-fetched, because the EU has proposed a flexible mechanism for imposing an oil embargo that takes into account the interests of all states. members,” he said.
According to him, Ukraine really hopes that a solution will be found in the coming days. If it is not found, then everyone will have to draw only one conclusion – that Hungary, with its uncompromising position, will simply play along with the Russian Federation in its attempt to preserve the EU oil market,” the Foreign Minister noted.
Recall that Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced some progress in negotiations with the EU on an oil embargo on Russian oil. The Hungarian Foreign Minister believes that “significantly more” needs to be done to change Budapest’s position on the oil embargo.
