Putin was convinced that Ukraine did not need Europe, but he was wrong.
The head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, having started the war against Ukraine, mistakenly believed that Europe did not need Ukraine. Now the EU needs to take a step – their status as a candidate for membership.
This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba during a briefing with his German counterpart Annalena Berbock.
“One of the reasons for this, this war began, is that Putin was convinced that Europe does not need Ukraine, he will not stand next to us in the event of a war, he was mistaken in this. Now it’s time to take the next step and take Ukraine away by granting the status of a candidate for membership in EU,” Kuleba said.
Ukraine is in its third month of war, after Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced in a video message on February 24 a “special military operation” to “defend” Donbass .
From the first day of a full-scale Russian invasion, the Ukrainian army actively repelled enemy attacks, inflicting heavy losses on them.
Recall that Hungary will support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union .
