Putin is likely to authorize the use of nuclear weapons only if he sees a real threat to the Russian state or regime.
Kremlin head Vladimir Putin can order the use of nuclear weapons if his regime is under threat.
This was stated by the head of the US National Intelligence Avril Haynes, transmitted to the Committee on Armed Forces of the Senate of the US Congress.
“We continue to believe that President Putin is likely to authorize the use of nuclear weapons only if he sees a real threat to the Russian state or regime,” Haynes said.
According to her, all the threats of nuclear war that are now being addressed to the West are intended to ensure that the civilized world refuses to supply lethal weapons to Ukraine.
“With tensions this high, there is always an increased possibility of miscalculation, of inadvertent escalation, which we hope our intelligence will help mitigate,” she added.
Earlier, we reported that, according to Haynes, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin may not be satisfied with Russia’s victory in Donbas. In particular, to end the war in Ukraine.
Let us remind you that in Belarus they announced that they are deploying units of special operations forces in the south, allegedly because of “a group of 20,000 created by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
