The head of the German Foreign Ministry said that she understands Ukraine’s desire to become a full member of the European Union .

She expressed confidence that Ukraine will be able to grant the status of a candidate for EU membership .

Annalena Burbock said this at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba in Kyiv.

“It is now clear to me that Ukraine is clearly part of Europe, and therefore I understand very well Ukraine’s application for EU membership – full membership. We insist on Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union. We want to carry out an in-depth reform in the EU, this will also be a science after this war of aggression… If we talk about the status of the candidate, then I am convinced that – as the President of the European Commission said – we will find a way for Ukraine’s participation in the EU,” Burbock said.

The German Foreign Minister also stressed that despite the uncertainty about when the war with Russia will end, it is already clear that Ukraine will remain free and will determine its own future.

“This is our common goal, and we are fighting for this together with you,” the German Foreign Minister said.

Recall that on May 10, the head of the German Bundestag, Berbel Bass, called for speeding up the procedure for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union so that a real prospect could be seen.
