“I want to live my life in peace.” A resident of Irpen was left without a home at the age of 72

Zinaida Baranchuk is 72 years old, she has been living in Irpen for 40 years. On March 24, as a result of shelling, Zinaida’s private house was destroyed.
The government provided her with a trailer, but you can only live in it during the warm season. Zinaida’s pension is 3,000 hryvnia (about $99) and she is unable to provide herself with housing. The main thing Zinaida wants is to “live out your life in peace.”
The city of Irpen in the Kyiv region was heavily damaged during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Many houses have been razed to the ground.
On March 28, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced that the city had come under the control of the Ukrainian military. Only on May 9, the mayor of Irpin announced that the city had been completely checked by sappers, although this still does not guarantee safety, and urged residents to be careful.
