In the Kherson region, 800 hectares of forest are on fire. Due to the temporary occupation in the area, foresters and firefighters are unable to extinguish the fire.
On the territory of the Kherson region, fires have been going on since mid-April, now the fire area is several hundred hectares.
Serhiy Vlasenko, adviser to the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, announced this to the Radio Liberty project Novosti Priazovie.
“The approximate area of fire is about 800 hectares, the exact area is determined after the fire is extinguished, then the exact area is already measured and the exact area will be known,” Vlasenko said.
He noted that the Russian invaders do not allow foresters and firefighters to extinguish the fire.
“There, after a curfew at eight in the evening, they are taken away from the fire and are only allowed back in the morning. That is, they cannot fully fulfill their duties,” the adviser to the minister added.
According to Vlasenko, the final amount of damage will be determined after an assessment of the area of fires, but this is a colossal damage, since we are talking about man-made forests, in which a lot of work has been invested.
Recall that in the Kherson region, forests are burning near the villages of Geroiskoe and Ivanovka. The inhabitants of the villages are threatened with death , because the Russian invaders forbid putting out fires.
