Russian dictator-president Vladimir Putin thought taking over Ukraine was the easy way out.
Bundestag deputy from the party “Christian Democratic Union” (CDU) Thomas Heilman believes that it was obvious that this was a false forecast of the head of state-aggressor.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with TSN.ua.
“I have not been in Ukraine since the beginning of the war. It is difficult for me to say how the military operates, what kind of weapons you have. This is a military secret. Therefore, it is difficult to say something in advance. But if you had asked me two months ago, I would have said that “Ukraine has no chance. But this was obviously a false forecast by Putin, who thought that taking over Ukraine was an easy way,” said Thomas Heilman.
When asked if Germany believes in a Ukrainian victory, he replied: “We see this chance. But it’s hard to predict.”
He stressed that now in the war the Ukrainian people are defending not only their own country, but also “the freedom of the entire Western world, and therefore Ukraine should receive any support.”
As reported, the situation at the front remains extremely tense , despite the successes of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, and the enemy is massively putting pressure on other areas. In particular, the Slobozhansk and Donetsk directions remain the most acute, military expert Oleg Zhdanov noted.
