Ten medical workers were awarded orders, medals and titles of Honored Health Worker by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Nurses, a midwife and a nurse saved lives and delivered babies during the temporary Russian occupation and in besieged cities, according to TSN .
The video was filmed by doctors as if ordinary everyday life in a maternity hospital – a woman in labor has contractions, but the girl is born in a shelter, and outside there are continuous explosions. This is a video from the besieged Chernihiv, which Russian troops bombed from the sky and around the perimeter for 38 days. During the shelling, women gave birth in a shelter, and when they were not bombed, there was a hospital on the ground floor, because the upper ones were already without windows.
Stefania of Ekaterina Kuzmenko is one of almost one and a half hundred children born in the besieged Chernihiv, the medical staff did their best to calm the women in labor. When the Russian troops smashed the city communications to smithereens, the kids were wrapped up in a cold shelter as best they could. Women were consoled by the fact that more girls were born. “To victory,” they assured.
Svetlana Klimenko did not leave the hospital for forty days, as long as the occupation of Ivankov continued. With her partner, she worked for eight. Even when her husband, a paramedic, left for a call and went missing, the woman continued to treat others. Nothing is known about her husband.
Nurse Oksana Klymenko and her patient Elena Skoropad have so much in common. Elena’s family, while trying to evacuate, came under fire. She and her husband survived, and their son was buried. Their nurse did not know then that her son had died defending Mariupol.
It is the doctors, according to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who have become second parents for citizens and the military . After all, the most difficult moments of life, the President stressed, we remember our closest ones.
Two weeks ago, Oksana Balandina, a nurse from Lisichanskaya, got married, and an impromptu dance was held in the hospital ward. The groom held the girl in his arms, she does not have both legs . It was an anti-personnel mine when the woman was returning from work. From pain and despair, at first Oksana did not want to live at all, then she began to train. And post it all on social media. There he receives words of gratitude and support from his patients and parents.
And in the basement of the Akhtyrskaya hospital, along with the medical staff and patients, civilians constantly lived, who, because of the Russian army, were left homeless. The city was shelled constantly, in two hours sixty-seven wounded were taken in.
Women honored by the president say their awards are collective. Awards for those who saved lives under shelling.
