A resident of Mariupol, 12-year-old Kira Obedinskaya, who was abducted by the Russians to the temporarily uncontrolled territory, is with her grandfather in Chernivtsi.
Finally, the girl passed all the examinations. She was discharged from the hospital. Now, after all the experience, Kira is trying to return to her usual life.
The story of the rescue of a young Mariupol woman is in the plot “Snidanka z 1 + 1”.
67-year-old Alexander Petrovich affectionately calls his granddaughter “young lady”. For almost a month, the man was waiting for the return of Kira, who was with the invaders of the Russians.
The man came to Marupol back in 1964. Then an 18-year-old young man from Russian Novosibirsk became a water polo star, and later a well-deserved coach. Then his son Zhenya was born – the father of Kira. He also became the champion of Ukraine in water polo. However, at the age of 26 he became a widower: he raised two daughters on his own – the start Sasha, who is studying in Poland, and the younger Kira. The wife died of complications from the flu in 2009 while giving birth to Kira.
However, Zhenya himself heard a terrible diagnosis in the fall of 2021: a brain tumor. The man successfully underwent surgery. Preparing for chemotherapy on February 28, 2022. But on February 24, the war destroyed all plans.
Alexander Petrovich and his son lived in different parts of Mariupol. Although Zhenya refused to evacuate, the action plan was discussed. The house where the son was with his girlfriend and Kira was shot by the Russians with a mortar. Then it was Eugene, along with his girlfriend, who were on the balcony of the eighth floor. The man died on the spot. The woman survived. They miraculously managed to escape, and therefore they decided to evacuate Mariupol on foot. However, someone from the group with which they got out together touched the enemy banner.
Kira and another child received shrapnel wounds. Then the child was forcibly sent to the Donetsk region, to the uncontrolled territory. At first she was in the Mangush hospital, and then she was transferred to Donetsk. The girl was filmed for Russian propaganda stories. The man, who at that time was evacuated, when he found out about the abduction of his granddaughter, put everyone on their ears.
By the return of Kira, the president’s team was also attached. After a month of negotiations, the girl met with her grandfather. I was very happy,” she recalls. Now the grandfather and granddaughter are making up for lost time.
