Singer Slava Kaminska, like many Ukrainian women, went abroad to save her children from rockets and shelling and is now in the Netherlands.
However, every day the thought “I want to go home” breaks the soul more and more, and the message “Come back home” is the most expected. “We are strangers in a foreign country, and nowhere will we be as comfortable as at home,” says Slava.
Under the influence of these thoughts, the performer created the first song in her career in Ukrainian, which she called “I want to go home.” This track became a cry from the soul for the singer.
Slava was born in Odessa and always considered herself a Ukrainian, although she spoke Russian all her life, she never felt persecuted about this.
“This is not only my pain. This is the pain of my country. I am a Russian-speaking Ukrainian who was born in Odessa, and for me this is the first work in Ukrainian as an author. Although no, this is not a job – this is a cry from the heart. A lot of women with children went to other countries to be safe. But we stayed at home in spirit. I am sure that there is no better country than Ukraine. I am sure that there is no city better than the one where we and our children were born,” says Slava.
Kaminska admitted that every day she is convinced of how lucky we are to be Ukrainians and that she proudly says and will say that she is Ukrainian:
“Another country will never become a home. My whole life has remained at home … in Odessa, in Kyiv, in Kharkov. I worry about my children, so I still am not where I and my family would like. Only now I fully realized how much I love my country! I want to go home!” – admitted the singer.
