Andriy Yarmolenko, the captain of the Ukrainian national team, has finally announced his departure from London’s West Ham.
A week ago, Yarmolenko played the last home match for the Hammers, after which he touchingly said goodbye to the club’s fans. And on Sunday, May 22, the Ukrainian entered the field for the last time in a Londoners’ T-shirt – Andrey’s team ended the Premier League season with an away match against Brighton.
The meeting ended with the defeat of the “Hammers” with a score of 3:1. Yarmolenko played the last ten minutes of the match, but could not help his team save at least a draw.
After the fight, Yarmolenko published a post on his Instagram, in which he once again announced that he was leaving West Ham and thanked the whole family of the London club.
“It’s time to thank West Ham and say thank you for the four years that I spent in London. In every match I gave my all, every goal is a thank you for the support of the fans.
Hugs to all teammates, coaches and employees of the club. I continue to believe in this team and wish her victories and good luck! I’m waiting for a new challenge, I really want to play and win! Now all the forces and all the attention is on the most important games of the Ukrainian team!” – wrote Yarmolenko.
Recall that Yarmolenko became a West Ham player in the summer of 2018, moving from Borussia Dortmund for 20 million euros. For the first team of “Hammers” Andrei played 86 matches (34 – from the start), scored 13 goals and gave 7 assists.
In the 2021/22 season, Yarmolenko made 32 appearances for West Ham in all competitions, scoring three goals.
West Ham ended the season in seventh place in the Premier League standings with 56 points from 38 games. The Londoners have qualified for the Conference League for next season.
