British intelligence compared Russia’s losses in Ukraine in three months of full-scale war with the losses of the Soviet Union in nine years of war in Afghanistan.
As noted in the British Ministry of Defense, these losses are equivalent.
“In the first three months of its so-called ‘special military operation’, Russia received the same number of deaths as the Soviet Union during its nine-year war in Afghanistan,” the British agency said on Twitter.
The UK Ministry of Defense believes that poor low-level tactics, limited air cover of the territory and a lack of flexibility and a team approach led to such a large number of Russian losses. The intelligence also added that the level of losses of the Russian army continues to grow during the offensive in the eastern regions of Ukraine.
“Russian society in the past turned out to be sensitive to losses during wars. As losses in Ukraine grow, they will become more and more obvious, and dissatisfaction with the war in society and the desire to voice it publicly may grow,” the department noted.
Recall, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of May 23, the total combat losses among the personnel of the Russian invaders amounted to about 29.2 thousand people . The data is being specified.
