Ukrainian Elmir Nabiev won in his debut fight at the European Boxing Championship 2022 in Armenia.
Nabiev dedicated his success to the Ukrainian people and his native city of Nikolaev, which on March 24, 2022, by order of President Vladimir Zelensky , was awarded the distinction “Hero City of Ukraine” for the mass heroism of people during the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
In his first fight at the tournament, Nabiev, who competes in the 51-54 kg weight category, defeated the owner of the competition, Armenian Sahakyan Yanik.
After the fight, the Ukrainian boxer posted a video where he was declared the winner of the fight and added a patriotic text.
“Today, May 24, exactly three months have passed since the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into the territory of Ukraine. Today, May 24, my debut fight took place at the European Boxing Championship 2022.
I have won. This victory is symbolic, it proves the invincibility of the Ukrainian nation. I dedicate the victory to Ukraine and the hero city of Nikolaev,” Nabiev wrote on Instagram.
Earlier it was reported that another Ukrainian boxer Ivan Sapun shouted “Glory to Ukraine” after winning the European Championship and heard a loud response from the stands.
