The founder of the social network is called responsible for the fact that the American analytical company used user data in favor of the election campaign of Donald Trump.
Washington Attorney General Carl Racine is suing Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg over a scandal involving data transfer of 87 million Americans to Cambridge Analytica.
It is reported by ABC News with reference to the corresponding statement, published on Monday, May 23.
According to the agency, Zuckerberg is accused of being directly involved in the decisions that led to the leakage of personal data of millions of Facebook users. In addition, according to the US Attorney General, the entrepreneur misled users about protecting their privacy.
“This lawsuit is not only appropriate, but necessary, it makes clear that corporate leaders, including company executives, will be held accountable for their actions,” Racine said.
In the summer of 2019, Facebook was already fined $5 billion for handing over the personal information of millions of users to political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica. It was reported that employees of the organization used the data in favor of the election campaign of Donald Trump.
Recall that the Council of Bloggers under the Federation Council of the Russian Federation wrote a pretentious letter to the company Meta, in which it demands compensation in the amount of $ 1 billion in favor of Instagram users who lost their income due to blocking the social network.
