Sony has unveiled a compact version of its flagship Xperia 1 IV, which offers the same design and most of the technical frills of that model. The two main differences of the Xperia 5 IV are the 6.1″ 120Hz OLED panel with Full HD+ resolution (instead of a large 4K display) and the absence of periscope optics on the TV. But there is also a 3.5 mm audio jack with a full set of audio goodies, a fan-favorite dedicated camera button on the end, a waterproof case in a classic format with symmetrical indents and a modern set of wireless interfaces, including 6 GHz Wi-Fi 6E.Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (not a plus) is responsible for the performance, battery for autonomy at 5000 mAh (impressive considering the small screen).
Back to the camera, the Xperia 5 IV has four 12MP sensors: three on the back and one on the front for selfies. There is optical image stabilization, a 7.5x hybrid zoom, and a 124-degree wide capture angle. The camera can record video in 4K @ 60fps, as well as slo-mo 4K @ 120fps. The front camera supports SteadyShot stabilization and screen flash.
The Sony Xperia 5 IV is available in three colors – black, white and green. A single version is offered with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of ROM. The price is $999 in the US and 1049 euros in the EU. The prospects for appearance in Russia have not yet been reported.
