Keep Friday’s news clean – President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to a petition calling for the legalization of erotica and porn in Ukraine. The head of state said that he had appealed to Prime Minister Denys Shmygal with a request to consider this issue and inform about the results, according to the president’s website .
The corresponding petition raising the issue of legalizing erotica and porn in Ukraine was registered on the website of the Office of the President on July 4, 2022. And now there is an official answer. We have already conveyed the very essence in the first paragraph of the news – the President clearly indicated that the bodies of state power and local self-government, their officials should act solely guided by the Constitution, laws and other regulatory legal acts, referring to the Law of Ukraine “On the Protection of Suspicious Morality” as the main one that regulates the production and circulation in any form of objects and products of a pornographic nature.
The President noted that it is the Cabinet of Ministers that ensures the implementation of state policy in the field of protecting public morality and the circulation of products and spectacular measures of a sexual nature, as well as coordinating and controlling representatives of the executive branch in this area. That is why the head of state decided to turn to the prime minister with a request to consider the issue raised in the electronic petition and inform about the relevant results. In other words, then everything depends on the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers on the urgent issue of decriminalization and the removal of pornography from the shadows.
The author of the petition, Taras Siromsky, tried to draw the attention of the President to numerous abuses by law enforcement officers, when girls were convicted specifically for eroticism under pornography articles. Actually, we can recall a recent high-profile case – in the Poltava region, a Kharkiv woman was sentenced to three years of probation and a fine of UAH 12,356 for spreading nudes in Telegram. It is also known about numerous cases when law enforcement officers conduct “test purchases” of pornographic material for the money of taxpayers in order to search for such “criminals” from OnlyFans. And at the same time, Daniil Getmantsev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance and Taxes, boasts about the receipt of hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes from the same OnlyFans to the budget.
