Users who have just purchased brand new Apple iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max smartphones are facing a problem with the camera. Complaints from newly minted owners have appeared on the Internet, alleging that when using third-party camera applications, the smartphone lens makes uncontrolled movements and makes a grinding sound. We are talking about such widespread applications as Instagram, Snapchat or TikTok.
YouTuber Luke Miani posted a video on Twitter showing an iPhone 14 Pro Max camera vibrating while using Snapchat, causing the photo to become completely blurry. Also, the video does a good job of conveying buzzing or rattling coming from the lens.

That being said, it appears that the bug does not affect the native Camera app on the iPhone. Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok apps may need updates specifically for the iPhone 14 Pro. However, it is not yet known what possible damage this behavior of the lens causes to the camera itself.
The company is “aware of this issue and a fix will be released next week,” Apple spokesman Alex Kirshner said in a statement. Considering that Apple is releasing an update, it looks like the issue is with the iPhone and its APIs, and not third-party apps. It can be assumed that the failure is related to the “second generation” optical stabilization system used in the iPhone 14 Pro models, since regular versions of the iPhone 14 with the previous version of OIS work fine with third-party applications.
