The OPPO Reno line began with a small, strong middle peasant that focused on design and unusual technological solutions. The company has remained true to this formula to this day, despite numerous changes. Last week, sales of the seventh generation of these smartphones started in Russia. The price is 27,990 rubles, but until October 3, a discount of 3,000 rubles is valid in the Ozon branded store. And thanks to the promotional code RENO1000, you can buy a smartphone even cheaper – for only 23,990 rubles. Is it just worth it? Let’s figure it out.

Equipment and design
The OPPO Reno7 comes in a very nice black box with a light turquoise dust jacket. The set is complete: USB cable, SUPERVOOC 33 W fast charging, documentation, silicone case, SIM needle and, of course, the smartphone itself. The cover has matte ends and a glossy back, there are all the necessary holes and sides. However, OPPO claims that you don’t really need it if you buy the phone in orange.
Look at the back of the Reno7 in orange. What do you think it is made of? Leather? Plastic? Glass! No I am not joking. This is indeed fiberglass, which the manufacturer calls Fiber Glass Leather. OPPO is very proud of this material, showing excellent strength and durability. And this fiberglass is very pleasant to the touch, reminiscent of real calfskin. The ends are made of matte plastic – also a material for which you don’t have to worry too much. In general, there are clearly no problems with the practicality and durability of the case.
And ergonomics too. Despite the flat ends, OPPO took care of the ledges at the front and back panels so that the case does not dig into the hand. The location of some elements on the case may not be to everyone’s taste, whether it’s a fingerprint scanner in the screen, pressed to the bottom edge (for me personally, it’s even more convenient), or the volume buttons on the left side. Of the other elements of the case, I note a 3.5 mm audio jack at the bottom and a triple tray, where you can simultaneously insert two SIMs and a memory card. And for that, and for another – respect.
In general, the design of OPPO Reno7 can only be praised. Slim, stylish, with an interesting color scheme and materials. In addition, it is not very large, it is comfortable to use with one hand. And how neatly framed the flash of the additional camera! I bet you didn’t notice her in the photos until I wrote?
The OPPO Reno7 screen has a diagonal of 6.43 “with a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels, this is an AMOLED panel with a frequency of 90 Hz. We have already seen such a panel from OPPO many times, and it has proven itself well. The only pity is that there is no DC Dimming, otherwise the level PWM at low brightness is quite high.90Hz works in most applications, we’ll talk about the behavior of hertz under load later.Touch – always 180Hz.No stereo, ordinary vibration.
Software
OPPO Reno7 is based on Android 12 with Color OS 12.1. They don’t give a damn about device support, we even received one update during testing. So Android 13 will surely arrive someday. ColorOS firmware continues to delight with stability, wide functionality and a unified design. In some situations, there are slight jerks (for example, when opening the left screen), but in general, it works extremely smoothly and pleasantly. There is a section in Settings that allows you to use the flash of the secondary camera as a notification LED in different scenarios, but otherwise everything is standard for ColorOS, so the screenshots will tell you better than me.
cameras
The configuration of the OPPO Reno7 cameras does not look promising at first glance: 64 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP. “Just one useful camera in a mid-range smartphone?” – the impatient reader will begin to be indignant. But in vain. Useful cameras here, if not three, but still two, and one of them is very interesting. But first, we’ll take a look at the pictures from the main camera, which is based on the most popular 1/2 “OmniVision OV64B sensor. And we’ll start with daytime photos:
Overall, I like what the OPPO Reno7 is capable of. And he is capable of excellent detail, good noise reduction and a good balance between the two styles of mobile photography – “natural” and “artistic”. The shots don’t look garish, as computational photography sometimes does, but they’re still prettier than smartphones trying to capture everything “as is.” I like this approach. Sometimes the focus goes to the background and not to the subject. The portrait mode paradoxically helps here: yes, it will add blur to the background (but maybe even better?), But the object will definitely be clear.
auto
night
Night scenarios are not so easy for OPPO Reno7, but not bad for a smartphone without OIS. A dedicated night mode is often useful (especially when there is very little light), but sometimes ruins photos. When in doubt, take pictures in both modes, you definitely won’t miss.
But, to be honest, I literally forced myself to take sample photos on the main camera. Because while I was walking around with OPPO Reno7, I only wanted to shoot with the built-in microscope. I have already seen this one in OPPO Find X3 Pro, but I still can’t get enough of it. In this model, the independence of shots from external lighting is ensured by a ring flash (no need to think about which side to take a photo from), and frames are cropped to a square. makes it easy to take clear pictures. For those who don’t understand how to shoot with a microscope at all, I’ll explain: it’s like using a macro camera, but not from 2-4 cm, but from 4-6 mm. The result is impressive, you can see a lot that you yourself will never see. If you put 2-megapixel cameras in smartphones, then only these!
As a front camera, OPPO Reno7 uses a 32-megapixel IMX709 sensor with f / 2.4 optics. It shoots great, I can not say anything bad. No wonder OPPO uses the same front camera in more advanced models, including the flagship OPPO Find X5 Pro. Excellent detail, cool dynamic range, good viewing angle. Probably one of the best front cameras in the class.
The maximum video recording resolution on OPPO Reno7 is 1080p@30fps. Both on the main camera and on the formal one. This is a limitation at the processor level. The video quality is average, the sound is recorded sensitively, the detail is low. I can, however, praise the electronic stabilization and constant autofocus.
Performance and Benchmarks
The hardware basis of OPPO Reno7 is the most popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset, which was released at the end of last year and quickly won the hearts of both Chinese manufacturers and vendors from other countries. Now there are already dozens of models based on this chip on the market! It is characterized by the complete absence of throttling and minimal heating, but at the same time, a low level of performance.
What about games? Firstly, only 60 Hz., so even in Ballz and Does not Commute – stable 60 fps. But, of course, you can play not only in something so simple. Even Genshin Impact is quite playable – if, of course, lower the settings to medium. (By default, by the way, they are generally set low, but Genshin Impact is reinsured.) In other words, you can play anything on Reno7, but, of course, not always on the maximum graphics.
The battery capacity of OPPO Reno7 is not the most impressive 4500 mAh. However, if you remember how light and thin the smartphone is, this battery ceases to be unimpressive. And if you look at the screenshots from the “Battery” section with more than 7 hours of screen time in two days, any questions will disappear. Of course, among these seven hours there are minimally demanding scenarios like YouTube (-15% in 2 hours); but there are also games (-10% per hour), and a camera, and tasks that do not require the screen to be on (geolocation for training with Mi Band, video streaming via Chromecast). In general, the scenarios are very diverse, so you can certainly get a similar level of autonomy.
What about charging speed? The package includes a 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging charger, which is far from the record by OPPO standards, but this decision is understandable: in order to charge faster, you would have to split the battery into two cells, and this would lead to a decrease in capacity. However, 33 W charge quickly enough: 30% in 15 minutes, 56% in half an hour and 100% in 1 hour and 5 minutes. For most buyers, such indicators will be enough, because given the energy efficiency of the smartphone, even 40% of the charge is enough for a working day – and this is only 20 minutes of emergency recharge.
conclusions
Like previous generations, OPPO Reno7 is a fairly balanced smartphone that is pleasant to use and gives positive emotions. Excellent ergonomics, cool design, high-quality 90Hz screen, stable and thoughtful software, good daytime camera, excellent autonomy – they are from this opera. And, of course, the microscope, which gives the owners of OPPO Reno7 a cool user experience, unfamiliar to the owners of most other smartphones. The smartphone has its weaknesses (mono sound, video only 1080p, lack of width, average gaming capabilities), but I advise you to take a closer look at the new product. Until October 3, for 23,990 rubles for a promotion and with a RENO1000 coupon in the OPPO branded store on Ozon, it is definitely worth taking:
