More than 16 million hryvnias have already been collected for a fighter for the Armed Forces of Ukraine - thanks to the readers who donated 7 million hryvnias

We are talking about the very notifications that turned out to be worse for Ukrainians than Putin’s threats to use nuclear weapons. The State Emergency Service announced the transition to Cell Broadcast at the end of April, and on September 7, a beta test began throughout Ukraine – a kind of sound signal (shrill squeak), together with the effect of surprise, made these notifications one of the most discussed topics on UAnet, and the system itself – one of wartime cult memes. The State Emergency Service thanked the Ukrainians for their patience and apologized for the inconvenience associated with testing.

“I understand that the testing process that we started on September 7th caused a number of inconveniences and memes, but a huge number of technical solutions and issues that needed to be resolved required a certain amount of time for testing.

In the future, this system will go into trial operation and will be used to transmit real signals about threats to Ukrainians. We are working with mobile phone manufacturers to increase subscriber coverage and expand the number of devices that can receive notifications.

Thanks again to everyone for your understanding and patience. Everything will be Ukraine!”

Roman Primush,

Deputy Chairman of the State Emergency Service

According to Roman Primush, last year the implementation of this system was estimated at several million dollars and almost a year for all the work. And thanks to the joint efforts of mobile operators, the Ukrainian Association of Telecom Operators Telas, manufacturers of smartphones and mobile communication equipment, as well as global software providers, this project is being implemented free of charge.

We talked in detail about the key advantages of Cell Broadcast in our previous article.
