Shortly after the official presentation of the iPhone 14, Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman began sharing information about the upcoming Apple iPhone 15 smartphone line. According to him, the company will introduce a new model naming scheme. At the same time, the current version of Pro Max will be replaced by the name Ultra.
The move to the Ultra name isn’t surprising. Earlier this month, Apple already released a new Watch Ultra smartwatch and added the word to its M1 Ultra processor. In addition, the company periodically changes the names of versions of smartphones. The Pro Max name first appeared with the iPhone 11 in 2019. And this year, Apple brought back the Plus name for the iPhone 14 Plus.
In addition, Mark Gurman predicts “big changes” in design. So, the iPhone 15 will allegedly be equipped with a USB-C connector instead of Apple’s proprietary Lightning port. Gurman says the company has already begun testing the new feature ahead of an EU law that requires all new phones to have USB-C ports by fall 2024.
Also, supply chain analyst Ross Young predicts that the new Dynamic Island feature could become standard on all iPhone 15 models, and not just limited to older Pro and Pro Max (or Ultra) versions.
