Just a week after Logitech unveiled the G CLOUD , Razer teamed up with Verizon to announce the Edge 5G handheld console at the Mobile World Congress event. The novelty will also offer access to cloud games, along with the ability to install locally.

Verizon and Razer are touting their console as the world’s first 5G mobile gaming laptop. It will be based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 gaming platform, which the chipmaker unveiled as a reference design last November. At the same time, Razer created and introduced an Android development kit, with a 6.65” 120Hz OLED screen, a 1080p webcam, and quad-band Snapdragon Sound speakers.
Judging by the short teaser, the Razer Edge 5G appears to be a consumer-facing version of this device. The more streamlined design is reminiscent of the Razer Kishi V2 smartphone controller, now integrated directly into the console. The company will reveal more about Edge 5G at the RazerCon event on October 15th.
The mobile gaming market has changed a lot between the release of the G3x Development Kit and today’s announcement of the Razer Edge 5G, with the introduction of the Steam Deck earlier this year. Apparently, the Valve console will soon have many competitors.
