Recently, the Duchess of Cambridge shared new photos of her daughter Princess Charlotte, who had a birthday on May 2. The photo also captured the new dog of the Cambridge family.
The dog was given to the family by Duchess Kate’s brother, James Middleton. He breeds dogs of the English Cocker Spaniel breed, shortly before Catherine and William were told about the death of their pet Lupo, the brother of the Duchess decided to give them a new friend.
The photo shows Princess Charlotte hugging her pet, shots were taken in Norfolk over the weekend. Wormpaw’s name is Orla, it’s a girl. Edition Royal Central declassified the details of the name of the dog.
“Eagle’s name is quite a regal choice. Orla is an Irish name derived from a word meaning ‘gold’ and ‘fhlaith’ which translates to ‘prince’ or ‘princess’, making the new royal dog a ‘golden princess’,” reads the message.
Orla is the family’s second pet, Princess Charlotte was born while they were still living with Lupo, a black cocker spaniel given to them by mom and dad Kate, Carol and Michael Middleton. The dog, whose name meant wolf, was an important part of Cambridge family life for nine years. In November 2020, William and Kate announced his death on their Instagram.
It is known that the duchess’s brother, James Middleton, gave them Orla as a puppy shortly before Lupo’s death. However, her name is still a mystery.
