As a rule, such data is usually kept secret, however, Tesla has disclosed the suppliers of metals (nickel, cobalt and platinum) for the traction batteries of its electric vehicles. In a rather extensive list of 12 companies, there was not a single one from Russia.

But there are many companies from China, they supply all three metals. As early as March 30, there were rumors that Tesla and the Brazilian company Vale had signed a secret contract for the supply of nickel. Now, after Tesla made public the list of suppliers, Vale confirmed the contract with Elon Musk’s company for the supply of first-class nickel from its production in Canada.

Tesla has an extensive base of metal suppliers for a reason – it acts as a kind of insurance against possible interruptions in the supply of key components, without which production can stop.
